Key Criteria

Applications must be submitted by an institution in England, Wales or Ireland. Usually this will be a cathedral, choral foundation, parish church, choir or choir school

Eligible Expenditure

Funding is available in the following areas:

  • Courses for individuals or groups - grants will be awarded only where there is a clear indication that an already acceptable standard of choral service will be raised thereby. Under certain circumstances, grants may be awarded for organ tuition.
  • Endowment grants for scholarships or bursaries.
  • Fees for individual choristers at recognised choir schools - applications should be for a maximum of two years. Grants will be awarded only for children who are presently, or likely to become, choristers for the academic year(s) in question.
  • Purchase of liturgical music - grants will be awarded only where the replacement of old or the purchase of new music will assist the promotion or maintenance of high choral standards.
  • Other projects of an innovative kind that are likely to further the object of the Trust in a direct and effective way. In very exceptional circumstances, these may include music commissions. Unique, imaginative ventures will receive careful consideration.

In every case, the project for which a grant is sought must have a direct bearing on the promotion and maintenance to a high standard of choral services.
