Value Notes

Grants are usually awarded up to £5,000, but larger grants may be awarded depending on the need of the charitable activity.

Extended Description

The Burden Trust, a registered charity, offers grants to voluntary and community organisations in the UK.

The funding is intended to support organisations undertaking projects to benefit those in need, including:

  • Medical Research.
  • Hospitals.
  • Retirement homes.
  • Schools and training institutions.
  • Homes and care for the young.
  • Other charitable work which helps people in need.

The Trust was founded by the Reverend Harold Nelson Burden in 1913, and there is an overall adherence to the tenets and principles of the Church of England.

The application process is ongoing and interested applicants may apply at any time. Applications should be received by 31 March to be considered at the annual Trustees meeting in June.

Key Criteria

Eligible organisations must be operating in the UK.

Preference may be given to local charitable organisations in the Bristol area.

Funding is not available to individuals.

Application Procedure

The Trustees meet annually in June to consider applications which have been received by 31 March.

Applications should be made using the online application process available on the Burden Trust website. Applicants may be contacted by the Trustees prior to the June meeting if any further details are required.
